I WILL USE P.T.for the Structure/Fort =4x4x8,,and Swing Beam=4x6x10 and A-Frame at end...BUT ..the rest ???

AREA is BALTIMORE..Hot/Humid Summer,Cold Snow?-Winter...using H.Dpt. for wood supply?

ANY HELPS / HINTS/ LEADS WOULD HELP !!!

THANKS..GO O's..Building a wooden swing set.Pros'/Con's of-Carriage bolts vs. Nails..Pressure Treated vs. Kiln Dry wood.HELP..
As stated, NO NAILS, and no matter the species, or pre treatments, all wood outdoors needs re-treating at some reg. intervals. I'd even look at Red Wood, etc. over treated Pine/Spruce. For decking I might even go TREX or another composite

Nails cannot be retightened and just the action of using the structure will cause sway/shift, etc. over time.

The description sounds fine, and no matter who you buy lumber from, I'd hand pick EVERY piece.

Don't use nails.

They ';shimmy'; out , and cause a hazard .

Bolts will last.

I'd use pressure treated with poly urethane finish.
I would use both nails and bolts, depending on the application. For overhead supports that the swing attaches to, use the carriage bolts but you can initially hang the support with a nail. For the sandbox I would use only nails. However, all nails should be twist shank or ring shank to prevent their working out. The carriage bolts should be used wherever you need strength for support and safety. The wood should definitely be treated. Good luck.
for anything that is supporting weight and taking constant abuse you need to use the carriage bolts, they want work free. I would also go with the pressure treated wood. The new treated wood is treated with sodium something (i cant remember the word now for the life of me), Basically it is salt treated, instead of arsenic treated. However the eye protection is still a good idea when cutting it as the salt will burn like crazy if it gets into your eye.
use the carrage bolts and pressure treated lumber

i built a swingset with these in 94 my kid outgrew it . we disassembled it and moved it to my brothers and his kids are still using it the frame has outasted swings that were origonly hunng on it
Bolts allow you to disassemble it and move it to a new location, and are easy to inspect yearly and tighten if required.

Pressure treated is usually green, and contains arsenic. Wear breathing protection when cutting, and I wouldn't want my kids touching it, breathing it after the fact.

I built a kit last year made by ';rainbowplay.com'; Quoting their web page:

---

Cedar, Redwood, and Cunninghamia are also naturally decay resistant, which means they do not have to be treated with possibly toxic chemicals to last for years outdoors.

---

I live near Toronto, Canada, so we get hot humid summers and a couple feet of snow in winter too. Fort is doing well.
Don't use nails, they will work loose.

Stick with the carriage bolts. A little loc-tite should keep them from working loose. And even if they do, simply tighten them up.

Pressure treated wood is more weather resistant.

Acrylic vs gel nails, which one is better? what are the pros and cons of each?

Gel nails do not yellow like acrylic ones do overtime. If you have regular acryics, the white tipe can turn yellow, but it you get them filled, then they file off the yellowed part. Gel nails also do not stain by UV light, lke tanning beds. They are also more expensive. I got gel nails just to try them, and i just like the regular acrylic ones better and I get them backfilled just like they do for gel nails.Acrylic vs gel nails, which one is better? what are the pros and cons of each?
Natural nails are really the best. Gel and acrylic, even when well cared for, always look tacky.Acrylic vs gel nails, which one is better? what are the pros and cons of each?
i heard one of them makes ur nails yellow. but i will get back to u on that.

What are the pros and cons of gel nails? what about having them taken off? any info about gel nails??

thanks! What are the pros and cons of gel nails? what about having them taken off? any info about gel nails??
If you are going to get your nails done, get the gel nails. They are much more better than the acrylic. What are the pros and cons of gel nails? what about having them taken off? any info about gel nails??
acrylic is really bad on your nails, they can't 'breathe' i woudl say get the silk wraps.. the nail salon doesn't bore into your natural nail like they would when they are filing the acrylic ones.. as for gell just be careful in the applicatino!
gel nails are good because you can get them french and if you want to paint over them to match an out fit you can do it yourself nad then take it off the next day and still have pretty french nails. they cost a little more than acryllic ones but they are better. Personally i like solar nails the best, they never get yellow like acryllic ones especially if you go tanning!
When I get my nails done I always get gel nails. They look really great. But... there is a huge downside. If you are planning on going back every other week to get them filled in, then they are totally worth it. If you aren't, they SUCK after a few days. They start chipping around the cuticles and there is NO easy way to take all of them off at once. For a while you will have chipped and missing nails. One other small thing that doesn't really bother me but you may want to know is that once your real nail grows back out it will have a ridge in it. I was told about a nail remover that is supposed to take them off if you soak them for a while... It didn't work at all, only made it worse.

But, even knowing all this, i still get gel nails when I have a special occasion because they look great. As long as your willing to pay the price for the next two weeks.

Good luck! Hope I helped.

  • Pros and Cons Acrylic nails?

First of all, How do you remove them properly?!?!? And how damaging are they? I want to weigh out the pros and cons.Pros and Cons Acrylic nails?
pros they are very hard, dont break as easily as the gel nail.

cons, SOME people have problems with them, ruin their nails permanently, but thats only some people, not a high percentage, i've had them for years, no problem.

to remove, you should go back to salon, thats the SAFEST way to remove, many people try and take off themselves, and they end up really doing damage, its worth the 10 bucks to have them do it.Pros and Cons Acrylic nails?
    PROS-

They look elegant on everyone, especially if you get the plain french tips in a square style.

They make all fingers look long and skinny.

They are usually reasonably priced and last for a long time, if you get them filled.

    CONS-

They hurt like a b**** to get off

They break easily if they're not done right

They make your nails weak and ugly when you take them off.

    How to get them off:

Go to the salon and ask them to remove them.

If you don't want to do that, soak them in nail polish and gently pull them off.

    I'd suggest salon help though.
you remove them using a chemical called acetone and by clipping away at the edges of the acrylic

i wouldn't advise you to get them because they destroy your real nail and it can hurt loads if u break them.

if you're thinking of getting them because u bite your nails it wont stop you from doin this either, it'll just become more of an expensive habit lol

i really didnt get on with them and it took me about a year to get my nails looking nice after i stopped having them done.

im sure some people are fine with them tho, might just be my experience.

if its just for a one off event the glue on nails are good enough, just make sure ur nails have no oil on them before you apply them so they stick properly
you can go to the salon and they will remove them for like 5$ or you can soak your nails in aceton and take them off yourself.

Con-the entire top layer of you real nail is taken off so when you remove them they look unhealthy and gross.

    Con-expensive!!!

    Pro-really pretty!

Pro-you can change the color tips and get cute designs and sparkles!

If you have the money to maintain them then go for it!

If not you will have them for three weeks and then have ugly damaged nails :(

Pros and cons of getting fake nails put on at a salon?

Pro - attractive to some people

Con - fungus risk, expensive, looks bad after a week, time consuming, can look cheapPros and cons of getting fake nails put on at a salon?
i have solar nails. i have white tips with sparkles. they last longer and they dont have to file your nails down as much. they wont rip off as easily... but can be easily soaked off with acetone.

but with the other kind of nails:

I love the fact that every day they look good with no help at all from me. I could never file nails that well. Sometimes a fungus could get underneath the nail but that doesn't happen often. I've had my nails done for the last 7 years and it's never happened. I love them.Pros and cons of getting fake nails put on at a salon?
    pros: looks awesome!

cons: expensive to maintain, hurts like hell when they break off, makes you real nails awful (weak, thin, brittle...nasty) when they eventually do come off
    pros

    they look nice and professional

its relaxing to just sit there and have someone do your nails:p

    cons

they can destory your nail underneath. but you can prevent that by putting on nail harder + taking care of them after you get them off.
    Pros:

    Nailpolish stays on better

    Looks nice and professional

    Nails don't break as easily

    Cons:

    Expense and upkeep

Makes nails underneath weak when you decide to remove them
    Pro: looks nice

    Con: gets expensive

I know that acrylic nails have some cons but i wanna no some pros?

i have herd all of the bad stuff i wanna no some good things thanx:)I know that acrylic nails have some cons but i wanna no some pros?
They hold the polish better than real nails cause there is no oil coming off of them like your natural nails. They are way stronger than natural nails. I've had them for years because i used to bite my nails and that was the only way I could have nice looking nails.

    Acrylic nails, yes/no, pros/cons?

    what do you think?Acrylic nails, yes/no, pros/cons?
    No.

Acrylic nails cost time %26amp; money to maintain - you need to have them filled as your nails grow out.

Acrylics can lift away from your own nail. Moisture, bacteria %26amp; fungus can collect leading to an infection.

Your natural nails will have to be filed down before the acrylic is applied. Once you stop wearing acrylics, your natural nails will be thin %26amp; weak. It will take a while for the damaged nail to grow out.Acrylic nails, yes/no, pros/cons?
i got acrylic nails and theyre really pretty, but your nails can't breath so when they come off, and when they do it really hurts, your nails are really really ugly and thin so they get really short and it takes a really long time to make them look normal again. my advice would be not to get them just get a manicure.
    cons:

    *fungus under nails is likely

    *falls off

    *destorys cuticuls

    *Allergic reaction

    *bleeding

    Pros:

    *pretty nail designs

    *longer nails

    *spohisticated look
No, No, 1,000 times no - it's not worth the money and the damage to your natural nails - if you have problem nails, rub nightly (I do it while watching TV) with Hoofers Choice nail cream and always, even if they are short, keep them polished. I had acrylic nails for over ten years and it took me two years to finally get back to strong healthy nails -
They are obvious. They are fake. Fake is ugly. I like natural. I think its a sucker market. The money saved could buy at least one article of clothing a month, or saved for a few months and spent on a tangible item.

In fact, I dont know what I would rather do, pay for an acrylic manicure, or just set fire to the cash.
i get ones from a drugstore if i don't feel like manicuring myself

i wouldn't get them done at a salon though, my mom does and her nails look terrible without the fake nails

GET DRUGSTORE ONES IF ANYTHING! :D
Ive had my acrylics on for awhile and took them off about 2 months ago. I still have nasty imprints on my nails from them. The first 3 weeks without them my nails were brittle and damaged. And I still have small pieces of acrylic stuck on my nails. As pretty as they look on .. its not worth it. Go natural!

What are the pros and cons of fake nails?

You can get a fungal infection underneath them that is gross and hard to get rid of.What are the pros and cons of fake nails?
FAKE IS REAL NICE BUT, YOU CAN ACTUALLY BEING COMMITTING TO AN EXPENSIVE ADVENTURE. THEN WHEN THEY DO COME OFF FOR GOOD YOUR FINGERNAILS ARE THINK AND VERY SELDOM CAN BE BROUGHT BACK TO THEIR ORIGINAL FORM FOR MANY MONTHS. I WAS A FAKE NAIL WEARER. PROFESSIONALLY DONE ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH. AND KNOW I AM TRYIN TO GROW MY OWN...THEY ARE GROOVED, THIN AND I AM CONSTANTLY PUTTING NAIL THICKENER ON.What are the pros and cons of fake nails?
you cant put in contacts with fake nails

they are kinda sluttty and fake looking

peolpe will think your high maintenence and lame
Pros- beautifully manicured always perfect nails.

Cons-it is a commitment, it is time consuming, can be costly and is hard on your natural nails. Just make sure you go to a nail salon that is sanitary and dont be afraid to ask what brand of products they use. Check it out and make sure it is a good quality product. Also, ask them to go easy on the drill. Replace with a new set ever 3-4 months and every 6 months or so take them off for about a week if possible.

I personally think its very worth it. I have very nice natural nails but love the convenience of artificials and how perfect they always look. They are so much stronger they rarely break. I had my first break in 5 years a week ago due to playing really rough with my dog.
PROS: They look awesome and kinda make your nails grow faster. Some guys even think they look sexier than real nails.

CONS: They chip, crack, and/or break your nails when removing them. Plus they make a big mess if you do your own(sometimes).
    Gel tips are awesome!

They look fabulous, can be done in any color and length and aren't permanent. They can also be used to help you stop biting your nails.

However, they're expensive (usually around $40, at least every month.), even just for a small repair (usually around $5 for a little chip), look horrible unless you can afford to get them done as often as recommended and hurt like a mofo when they break.

    Hope that helps!
Pros: Hands look very nice, professional and makes you feel very feminine.

Cons: Infections, breaks, costly for a good set
Pros: They look very nice; they are stronger than regular nails; nail polish won't chip

Cons: They have to constantly be refilled; Putting them on means you have to shave down your real nails so they are very brittle if the fakes get taken off; it's not as easy to change polish colors

Pros and Cons of acrylic nails?

Wondering the advantages and disadvantages before I have them done?Pros and Cons of acrylic nails?
I'm 27 and i've had acrilics in the past and they are fabulous if you have unhealthy nails that dont grow in very well and they look beautiful but if you dont go back to the salon for your follow up appointments they can get gross... fast. you have to make the commitment to these nail because once you get them they ruin your real nails so to keep your nails looking nice you'll have to keep getting new ones. i wouldnt recommend them but it is totaly up to you. Good luck with your decision!Pros and Cons of acrylic nails?
there cute , and they make yu feel well groomed ,

its a hassel to take them off to clean and when your nails grow yu keep having to get them filled .
Your nails will always look nice as long as you keep them up, but it gets expensive. It helped my cuticles to be less dry, but I wasn't able to do things like putting on a necklace, scratching dry skin off or picking up coins or a credit card from a counter. And after they have been on a while, you can get dirt between the acrylic and your real nail which is gross. Also, be aware that when you decide to take them off, your real nails will be weak and split and will take months to grow out to normal again.
pros---%26gt; cute, clicking sounds, you can keep them longer htan a painted french manicure, they make you feel sexy

cons---%26gt; hard to take off yourself, grow out and need filled in every two weeks or so..... the price....some can yellow

I am thinking about getting fake nails from a salon. I want them for a occasion. That would be the only time I would wear them, and I would remove them shortly after. I get fake nails for pageants and I like them. They are easy and always look nice. However, your fingernails get weak, even if you just have them on for a week. Then your whole fingernail has to grow back to make them strong and not split. I wear contacts and if they are short, you should have no problem.Pros and Cons of fake nails?
    getting fungus~!!
    pro:pretty,no worry about re-painting

con:falls off easily, hard to do some things

p:s: your contacts would fall if you tried to use yr fake nails to pick them up
    I just got mine done.

    Pros...

    look really pretty

    last really long

    Cons...

if your a contact wearer its gonna take some practice

my friend has contacts and puts hers in fine.

Get them as short as possible, ( like mine) just tell them as short as possible. For contacts, if u can have some1 put them in the first day while you get use to them. Otherwise, they are not that hard to look with.
I would personally recommend real nails.

I've used fake ones in the past and I just find it harder to do things with them on. (Buttons were a NIGHTMARE! Especially when i had to pee haha :D )

As you only want them for an occasion, would it be worth spending however much it is for them? Purely for one event?

You should just paint your real nails to match your outfit and rock it :)

What are the pros and cons with Gel Nails?

pros: they look natural and they help your nails grow....

cons: Gels have to be professionally drilled off with an electric file vs being removed with 100% pure acetone like acrylics

Pros and cons of acrylic and gel nails?

can any give me some info on which is the best, gel or acrylic? things like price, durability, looks, convenience etc.

i have had acrylics for the past 7 years and are thinking of trying the gel nails, i always have french tips can this be done with gel?Pros and cons of acrylic and gel nails?
Yes Gel can have french tips. I would def. go with gel over acrylic, they last longer, are more natural looking, less prone to yellowing.

So yeah, gel is better, you should try them outPros and cons of acrylic and gel nails?
To me, gel %26amp; acrylic are about the same. It is very time consuming and expensive (depending on your budget %26amp; where you go ~$45/month)

Personally, I had gel nails done for my wedding 5 years ago. They looked great BUT... the day after I returned from the honeymoon, a nail got caught in the car door and snapped off. ~$5 for a repair.

About a month later, I was sick of them and decided to get them all off. They use a Dremel (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00961132000P?vName=Tools) to grind down the acrylic/gel at the expense of your natural nails. I had a ridge that gradually grew out of my nails - it took about 3-4 months.

If you have already done acrylic and are thinking of moving to gel, I recommend getting your natural nails healthy again. It's not good for them to always be covered in polish or acrylic nails.

And yes, you can get french on a gel.
I have never had acrylic or gel nails. I think natural nails is the way to go a lot less upkeep and a lot less to keep up with.

I don't know if french tips can be done with gel.

It sounds like either one would be expensive because of the maintenance.

I used to get manicures but stopped as of two years ago because it got to be too expensive.
Never even heard of gel nails.

I would guess acrylic is more durable and probably cheaper since not too many places have gel.
ok seriously, you should just use your own nails. that's free and they're not fake!!!!
your own are the best, give them some loving care, you'll be amazed.

Other just look bad, no matter what anyone says

The pros and cons of having long, professionally done nails?

I'm getting my nails done soon....its the first time i'll be having it done, and i was just wondering...are long nails good? I've heard that they're great for typing, but are they annoying for everything else? Should I just get short nails, what I'm used to instead?

Thanks. The pros and cons of having long, professionally done nails?
The first time I had my nails done was the day of my senior prom lol...my aunt had to dress me hose and all. I had a hard time adjusting to them and learning how to do everything with them. I have had them done since, but only occasionally.

    Pros:

    They look awesome

You can scratch a back better than ever

    They are very thick

    Cons:

They hurt if they come off

You can rip your nail bed if one comes off

You have to have them removed to keep your nails in decent health...if you take them off yourself it will hurt

You can get an infection if they don't use proper procedure

You have to get them filled like every 2 weeks I think (I never got mine filled, just let them grow out)

Overall its a personal decision. I would say go for it and if you don't like them long you can always cut them back.

    Good luck!

;)The pros and cons of having long, professionally done nails?
They make typing more difficult, I'm wearing fake nails right now. With long nails you need to get used to doing things differently. Tying shoelaces is one of those things that become really hard or picking up coins. I find that I use my hands in a slightly more effeminate way when my nails are long and I don't want to chip my polish. The good thing about them is that they do look nice and almost any colour will look good on them.
dont get too long because it looks ghetto :]]
Get shorter ones....I got gel nails once and they were too long and drove me crazy...I couldn't put on necklaces because I couldn't open the clasp because of the nails or even pick up change. I think the shorter ones look nicer anyway and more natural and not like long claws!! The problem with those gel or acrylic nails too is you have to go frequently to get them filled in so it gets time consuming and expensive.
If you're getting fake(I'm guessing acryllic?) nails, you might as well go for a longer length. I don't know where you got your information but long nails make typing much harder, and you get used to opening doors and putting in your contacts differently. If given a choice between regular acryllic and0 gel, choose gel. It's more expensive but well worth the cost ;)
I love the look of them and after a litle while you get used to them. As for typing, having long nails doesnt make it easier, it's actually really annoying at first if youre not used to them. You have to be just a little more careful, Ive had time where Ive been cleaning or hit my fingers against something and have broken a nail down the middle which sometimes broke my real nail too and thats painful!

But all in all, theyre fine, its just what you feel comfortable with, I wore them for 2+ years and love them.

    FAKE NAILS? pros/cons?

soo ima be 15 soon and im going to get pamperd im getting my hair coloured and restyled. but thats not the point im just wondering if i should get some acyrilic nails done ? i bite my nails:( and hoping itll help me grow them ;/ but what are the....

    GOOD POINTS

AND THE BAD POINTSFAKE NAILS? pros/cons?
first of all if you want your nails to grow then what you should do is get them manicured and shaped then get GEL nails not acrylic and then get those manicured. i would not recommend going to the korean nail shops because they reuse their tools and supplies on everybody and germs and nail infection tend to spread more easily that way. i would go to a spa or hair salon with a nail tech on duty. it will cost more but atleast you wont have to worry as much of getting a nail infection! salon and spas are held to very strict sanitation rules and regulations from the board of cosmetlogy and i have seen alot of korean shops break alot of those regulations.

    Pros

    They look nice

Will help to stop biting your nails (unless you are gross enough to eat a fake nail)

your nails will grow nice and long under the fake nail

    cons

they require up keep or else the will break. depending on how fast you nail grow you need to get a fill every 2 weeks or less. if it takes longer then 2 weeks then maybe you should check your diet because you may not be getting enough vitamins and minerals. a fill-in will cost less then the full-set but it still cost.

They break with lack of up keep or thin application and most of the time they hurt really bad when they do break

even though your nail will grow under the fake nail they will grow thin and brittle so when they are the length you want make sure you get back to the nail tech for a soak off to remove the fake nail and get a silk wrap or a gel overlay to reinforce your natural nail. the up keep of your natural nail is cheaper then up keep of a fake nail.FAKE NAILS? pros/cons?
acrylic nails aren't permanent, and if anything they'll stunt the healthy growth of your nails. when you get acrylic nails they use tools on your nails to make them EXTREMELY thin, so when the acrylic nails come off they will have grown out in length but they will be so soft, thin, damaged, and scratched up. acrylic nails are gorgeous while you have them, but they do grow out..and you either have to get them filled in or just take them off because it looks bad when they have grown out too far. last year I had acrylic nails for about 7 months straight, and each time I'd go to get them filled in or just completely redone, it got to the point to where my nails were so thin that they hurt really bad when I got them redone. also, I haven't had this problem but a lot of people I know and have seen have had problems with bacteria growing underneath their nails. I guess it depends on if you use your hands a lot in chemicals and stuff though, and you being so young probably aren't working in chemicals. it's just something to keep in mind though. I would say the good points of it is just that they look beautiful..why else would so many people get them? there are no benefits of acrylic nails.
    acrylics nails.....dont break...are really cute.....

they grow out and look ugly...hurt your real nails...are hard to get off

if you want to have long lasting pretty nails stop biting them and get your real nails done.
i love them! but OH BOY do they hurt when they come off!(sometimes)

    Hi,

I am getting my nails done on Thursday at a salon and I'm not really sure which I want. I'm getting them done because I simply don't have time for the upkeep of my natural (beautiful, long, semi-strong, squared nails). I have had acrylic's before, but I am hearing good things about pink and whites, gels, and silk wraps. What are the pros and cons of each of them? Can you also tell me where I can go to see pictures of each example? Please and thank you :)Artificial nails--pros and cons?!?
i have solar nails. i have white tips with sparkles. they last longer and they dont have to file your nails down as much. they wont rip off as easily... but can be easily soaked off with acetone.

    answer my question??

well they r all really gross and dirty and germy,

they thin your real nails down to the thickness of paper.

False nails... pros and cons ?????

i'm reffering to those special kind of nails aplied in saloons... do they damage your nails? can somebody tell me how the procedure goes, wht does it involve and for how long can they last?? what happens when ur nails grow?False nails... pros and cons ?????
i am a licensed nail tech and here are my answers for your particular questions:

Yes, fake nails(acrylic, gel or even wraps) usually will cause some damage to the natural nail. In order for the ';fake'; nails to adhere to your nail plate; the top layer of your natural nail must be filed down. This removes the ';oily'; layer from the nail and evens out any ridges and unevenness which can cause lifting.

the procedures vary depending on which type of nails you decide to go with. the procedure itself usually takes around 1 hour from start to finish and u can expect to see your nail tech about every two weeks for routine fill-ins possibly 3 depending on how fast your natural nails grow and for repairs and replacements when needed. with good maintenance your false nails can last as long as you like them.

if and when you decide to remove the fake nails...

you should see your nail tech to remove them with as little damage as possible. this is usually where the most damage occurs. as your natural nails begin to grow out you will probably notice a ';line'; or slight indentation growing from the cuticle- up. This is from that top layer being removed and the new growth has it intact. you will notice that it goes up as your nail grows and with time it will grow all the way off.False nails... pros and cons ?????
    pros ...cute..

Cons..annoying after a while and can start to destroy your nails..with all the chemicals they use.
    Con - they look fake

    Pro- can't think of one.
I have had them for about five years. I delayed getting them because I thought they would ruin my nails and be too expensive, but since I began, I've loved them. Mine are acrylic.

I have them done every 3 weeks. The first time you have them done, the salon will put on a whole new set. Then in 2-3 weeks, you come back in to have the back (the part nearest your first knuckle) filled in with acrylic. ($15.00 where I go) After another 2-3 weeks, you go in to have the tip redone as well as the back. ($20.00 where I go) They file the tip from the top and the front, then fill in with white, since I always get french manicure. So it is $35.00 every 6 weeks, plus tips of course.

They haven't damaged my nails, though if I took them off, my own nails would be thin until they grew out.

    Good luck!
The superglue-like stuff damages your nails.

No to menton how it can bond your nail to your skin. The bondage wares off in like a day.

    ------

What people do s, they put that superglue-y stuff on the false nsils, then apply it to your real nail (if the size is right), then wait for it to dry.
They look beautiful. Yes they damage your real nails, but they grown back to normal once the fake nails are removed. So the damage isn't permanent. They use nail tools %26amp; acrylic to attach the nails. They last until you pick them off (ouch) or until you let them grow off. When your nails grow, they need filled in. It doesn't hurt. Just try it. The whole procedure is hard to explain.
Ugh! I used to be the queen of acryllics as well as Solar nails. They first sand your nail down and apply the nail to it with an acryllic overlay. They can either paint your nail or do a french manicure. You nail will grow underneath. About every two weeks you will go and get a fill..where they take the polish off sand it down and fill in where the growth has taken place. Sometimes they will cut the acryllic if you feel like the nail is too long. The draw back is when you take them off. You nails are weak, brittle, and will shred. They may be long but most of the time you will have to start back with really short nails. It will take about 2 months for them to go back to their normal stage. I used to do them, but my nails seem so damaged now, that I will just stay short and healthy.
they fall off, so u really have to treat them with care. i wouldn't get them, i personally think they are ugly......(sorry!)
False nails are applied many different ways. I will tell you this, I have seen so many women who have worn them, and their nails underneath become paperthin. They have to wear down the nail underneath to get the top fake nail attached.

If you have never had real long nails, or fake ones, it takes forever to get used to.

But the biggest thing is the affect that it has on your real nails.

    It damages them gravely.

Acrylic nails [pros and cons...guys: attractive??]?

so my mom is allowing me to get my nails done for my bday and i just wanna know the pros and cons of fake nails before getting them done. my mom has them and she ah-dores them, but i wanna know what other peoples experiences are with them. also, guys: do you think they are attractive or do they freak you out and you would rather us just paint our nails?Acrylic nails [pros and cons...guys: attractive??]?
    pros:

they look great to some people, but everyone has their own opinion

    really thats the only pro,haha

    cons:

once your natural nails start growing in your fake nails grow with them..it doesnt look very good

they are a pain to take off

and once they are off..your natural nails are thinner and kind of ripped up alittle

and as for guys liking them..i dont know. it really depends on the guy

    everyone is different.

hope this helps:]Acrylic nails [pros and cons...guys: attractive??]?
Over a long period of time, you can loose your natural nails.

The chemicals they use emit harsh fumes %26amp; carcinogens... I recommend wearing a surgical mask if you are going to get it done, %26amp; make sure they have it well ventilated.

Or, you could get your natural nails manicured %26amp; invest in some good old fashioned nail strengthener %26amp; grow out your own nails.

It's up to you, but I could not stand the feeling of wearing them... I didn't care how they looked, it bugged me so much how my fingers felt.

I prefer natural nails, but I love a good mani-pedi.
i personally don't go for it anymore, did it once and i love it at first, so pretty and strong and sexy, but the new growth and the fire line (line between the acrylic and your new nail), and the maintenance of them...too high

    anyway, Happy birthday!
I tend to think they look cheap and tacky. If you're not used to them they can take getting used to and if they're too long they can be difficult to do things. If you wear contact lenses it can be hard to take them out.

They can fall off and when you want to take them off your natural nails are very thin and brittle, you basically have to wait for them to grow out which can take awhile.

Getting a manicure on your natural nails is a better way to go in my opinion
    they are really nice

but you have to be careful

    they tend to hurt

its hard to get used to them

and when you take them off

    they mess up your nail.
    it looks gorgoues

Actually..none. Every time I get artificial nails, I regret it horribly, because I inevitably take them off (they get nasty underneath) and my natural nails are a trainwreck. You're much better off getting a regular manicure every week or so to make your natural nails grow healthy and beautiful. Good luck to you!! ;)

I want to get acrylic or gel nails. But which one should I get? What are the pros and cons of both?

Do gel nails last any longer than acrylic? Or do you still have to get them filled every 3 weeks? Are gel nails harmful to the natural nail?I want to get acrylic or gel nails. But which one should I get? What are the pros and cons of both?
Acrylics used to be stronger than gel nails, but that has changed a real lot over the past few years. Nowadays, a high quality UV nail gel product line is usually every bit as strong as acrylics are. Thus, gel nails are just as durable as their counterparts - acrylic nails when top quality gels are used. The cheap gels are pretty much the same as cheap acrylic products in that neither stands up very well with regards to durability, and both will yellow over time. The use of high quality products for either acrylic, or gel nails makes a lot of difference in the strength, the look and feel of the finished nails, and also do not yellow like the cheap ones do. Anyway, acrylic nails are the good old standard of nail enhancements. It seems like everywhere you go, salons are doing nothing but acrylic nails. But that is slowly changing. More and more salons are offering UV gel nails to their customers. Some salons are 'gel only' and do not offer acrylic nails. SOme good points about gel nails are - as I mentioned already, their strength and durability. They are also non-yellowing when good products are used. Gel nails are also non-toxic, are odorless, and are more realistic than acrylic nails are. Gel nails also feel more realistic too and are 'lightweight' meaning you cannot really tell you are wearing 'fake' nails. It is true that you can go a bit longer between fills, though not all that much longer - maybe a week or so longer than you would for acrylics. But, that also depends on the skill level of the tech who applies them. If they are applied correctly, they will not lift. This in turn means getting fills less often. If they aren't applied correctly, or if you are prone to lifting no matter what then you will need fills more often. Typically for acrylic nails, a fill every 2 weeks is normal.

Gel nails are not harmful to your nails, nor are acrylic nails. It's an unskilled tech that makes problems like thinning of the natural nails happen in the first place. An experienced, and highly skilled tech who uses the best quality products will not let this happen to you.

To sum it up - my vote is for UV gel nails. Just be sure to have someone really skilled in the application of gels do your nails for you. Gels are easy to do, but very difficult to master. Not a lot of techs can do a really good job when it comes to gel nails. They are out there - you just have to look around a bit and find them because they are not going to be looking for you, LOL!

Good luck!I want to get acrylic or gel nails. But which one should I get? What are the pros and cons of both?
Gel nails are still acrylic the gel is just placed over the acrylic to protect the finish of the polish, and they dry instantly, it also keeps a shine on the nail which makes it look fresh longer, i have worn them for years and have just decided to go natural, i got tired of getting them filled and comming up and breaking, and looking raggedy about the hands lol, i have just decided to go natural and it took months, nail creams, and biotin to get my nails in the condition they are in now. if you look at celebrities, you'll see that acrylic nails are ';out'; of style, i suggest you get on a nail care regimine get manicures, they are less expensive and in my opinion look better, now when i see acrylic nails they look cheap. if you do choose to go with them get an american tip not french it looks more natural and dont let them convince you to get square tip (ugh) they usually have to do less work on square tips, get them square rounded for a more natural sophisticated look.
i had acrylic nails for about 3-4 months. (finally got rid of them because i kept breaking them off)

i dont know much about gel nails though.

acrylic nails arent as bad as everyone says. i took great care of them though. the only bad part is when or if you decide to stop getting fill ins and take them off your nails will be sore, weak and very very thin for about a week or two and will look damaged. but after a few weeks they will look and feel normal again.

as long as you take care of them and watch out for any signs of fungus (btw if you suspect any sign of fungus or anything unusual then take the nails off asap!) then you shouldnt have any problems.

when you first get them put on they will have to file your real nail down really really thin and i found that a little uncomfortable at times.

they look good but after a few fill ins they start to look really fake and (if like me) you get white tips. the clear part will start to look yellow and show signs of previous fill ins.

i personally liked them (my mom finally gave in to me getting them... she was anti-acrylic saying it would ruin my real nail... what real nails i had anyway)

i just dont recommend that you wear them 12 months of the year. just because in the long run they are bad for your nails. because they are depriving your nails of oxygen and stuff. but a few months at a time isnt bad. at least not for me.

but cost is also a concern. a usual full set costs about $25-$30 and each fill in costs about $15-$25 depending on the place and if you get designs or french and stuff. and you will need a fill in about every 2-3 weeks if you want them to look good. so if you cant pay that much all the time then i suggest not to get them.

good luck in making the right choice for you :)
i love women who are keep their nails up and done.

    especially her feet also

    :)

defiantly and attractive quality. i suggest you go with acrylic i think those are always attractive and i do believe there are easier to keep up then the gel if i can remember from my ex.
i think gel nails look better but i've never had them. my mom had them and she hated them.

i've gotten acrylic nails before. they stayed for like a month. i really liked them
I definitely think you should get gel nails because they last longer and they always look shiny.

Acrylic nails just start to fall off after 2 or 3 weeks.
JUST TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN NAILS. GLUING ON FAKE NAILS, HARMS YOUR NAILS AND ALWAYS LOOKS DIRTY
Don't get fake nails. If you're nails get infected (which is really common), your nails can get soft and spongy. My friend had acrylic nails, and it was a huge mess when she took them off and they were infected.

They look ace but be careful not to get addicted and where them for too long - i wore fake nails for two years and have now got oncholysis - not nice! What are the pros and cons of fake nails?
I used to have fake nails that I always had kept relatively short to make them look more natural, with french tips. They looked awesome! It took some getting used to, especially the thickness but I ended up loving them.

I think they're great if you have weak or raggedy nails that you can never seem to grow out or get to look decent. I got them because I had the bad habit of tearing my nails, so they were always short stubby and ugly as hell.

The upkeep can be annoying, but it has to be done otherwise they end up looking tacky.

They do hurt like a b*tch if you snag one or accidentally rip it off. It's made me cry before.. lol. I don't think I'm being a wimp about it either.
they damage your real nails quite badly- because the surface of your nail is buffed down (usually with an electric drill!) which makes them weak. also you can get fungus infections under them as water gets trapped between the extension and your natural nail. if you are trying to grow your own nails you would be better to get regular manicures and use a hardener- nailtiques is fab! the pros are that they look good and are a quick fix for a speacial occasion!
    Pros

    you look hotter

you dont need to spend time growing them

you can have fancy designs on them

    they make you feel prettier

they look great on a mans thighs (big plus)

    Cons

if you get them wrong you look like a witch (minus the broom %26amp; cat)
Well i have only worn them once.. and i only did that so i could learn to stop biting nails and so my nails could grow!

Bad things, when they came of they ripped the top layer of my actul nail off

if u see a lady with the kind of naildesign u like ask where she goes to. i go to get mines done since years. i dont have any issues or problems with it.but it also depends on whos doing them and how they will look like.
Pros would be your nails look cared for, but you can do that yourself.

Cons would be the disgusting fumes you breathe in while your in the nail parlor, wasting money, and looking fake :)
If you get your nails done get gel not acrylic.

CON of acrylic nails: They buff your nail and it ruins them leaving them horrible looking as well as ruining your nails for ages.

PRO: They look good, and gel nails don't ruin your natural nails.
they look good thats true buy they chip and look crappy - also its quite tricky doing your hair, make up etc with them on!!

Yours nails underneath after removing them look crap also!

acrlic nails are good and strong, but costly as you have to fill it every month and a half. But why not try it it looks am.azing
    Pro- they are pretty

Con- if you are a devoted enough nail biter you will bite them off in your sleep(speaking from my only experience with acrylic, and I mean real acrylic, nails)
    Cons:

    - They're ugly

    - They're expensive but make you look cheap

    - They stop you from doing normal work because you don't want to break them

    Pros:

    - There are none
    pro; they look good

con; the glue melts your real nails

and there very painful to get off

    and

    they cost a bomb !
Pro - they can look good if done classy (ie. no outrageous designs, not too long)

Con - They do have a habit of looking cheap and tacky!

Make sure you go with something basic!! :)

    xx
Not very good for scratching your hubby,s or boyfriends back.So my wife says anyway.
Pro-they look nice, if done right.

Con-they ruin your real nails underneath.
i think it looks great, but if they fall off it sometimes hurts real bad which isnt good
    Pro - They look hot!
they look cool but theyve always reminded me of porn stars :S

I'm fourteen %26amp; I've been getting nails for over 3 years. my nails are fine. get them done at a nail shop they're really not as bad as they seem. if your nails are already long then don't get fake nails just get an over lay its better for your nails %26amp; if they break it hurts a lot less !What are the pros and cons of the do-it-yourself fake nails?
    PROS.

    cute

    look good with almost anything

    scratch people, good for itchin

    CONS.

hard to do some stuff with them

    easily breaking

they dont ruin your nails that much, they just make them a little rough and look weird...

i think you should get them for senior prom though....
its actually alot healthier than getting them done at a salon because of all the filing they do to get it to bond (im talking about acrylic fake nails) also if you get your nails done at a salon and one breaks at prom your out of luck. with the ones you buy yourself just buy 2 packs (there usually only like 5 dollars) and then throw them in your purse with some glue and if one pops of just head to the bathroom lol. the do it yourself ones do come off alot easier so you can probably only keep them for a day or too after your prom but once they come off or you take them off just buff your nails a little (to take off the excess glue) and then give them a clear coat or any color you want and they will be as good as new lol. have fun at prom!!

Pro and cons of acrylic toe nails?

Since nobody has answered your question yet...Acrylic Toe nails are not that great of an idea...you can increase your risk of severe fungus on your toes...(Thats discusting lol, dont you think so?) But, if you get the right brand, then its not so bad. If you wanted them go for BROADWAY I buy the finger nails and they look sooooo natural!! and thats what your going for. believe me, they work sooo well!!! go with me on this one!! PLEASE! You wont be sorry :)Pro and cons of acrylic toe nails?
EWWWWWWWWWWWWW YO!!!!!!!!! That's sooooooo nasty!!! Why would you do that???!!!!

I saw a fake set on a girl and it looked soooo tacky and nasty....the worst part of it was that one of the nails actually fell off!!! EWWWWW
They look really fake and tacky. I wouldn't reccommend it. Plus you're opening up the possibility of a fungal infection. Stick with a regular pedicure.
Why in hells bells would you want fake toenails? That has to be the dumbest thing I've heard today.
why would u ever do this...

What are the pros and cons of getting artificial nails from a salon?

I type a lot. So many people are telling me not to get them. What do you think? What are the pros and cons of getting artificial nails from a salon?
    Pros:

    -They look nice

    Cons:

-They take time and money to keep up

    -They damage your real nails

-The lines on your nails, after have them removed, take a long time to grow out

-It's harder to keep the underneath part clean which can be dangerousWhat are the pros and cons of getting artificial nails from a salon?
I love them, I've been wearing them for years, and I type all day long. I used to keep them short but now I have them made glamour lenght and it doesn't bother my typing, I got used to it.

I usually have mine removed at the salon every 5-6 months and keep them off for a couple of weeks to let my nails breath and when I do so, my natural nails are ok and healthy.

I guess where you get them done is important.

I have refills every 2-3 weeks for approx. $20 so it's not that expensive.
I had them for years. They look great, you can tell them that you want them sport length I think is what they told me. That way they are not too long. Just remember every 4 to 6 weeks you will have to have then refilled and that is an extra cost, when they break, there is a repair cost, when you take them off your nails underneath will be paper thin, You will have a ridge line on your nail that will be there until the nail grows out. You really have to take all of this in mind. Also if water gets underneath you can get a really bad infection. Make sure you go to a really good place with a good reputation to have them done.
I love them and they look and feel great but when you type alot, it does make it more difficult. They are also very painful when they break off. I type alot too but when I get them done, I decide to get them cut shorter in order to make everything easier while still making your nails look beautiful
i have artificial nails, and i have had them for four months (with the maintenance) I type every day, and as long as you keep them shorter, you shouldn't have any problems. I personally have an acrylic overlay (which is my natural nail and acrylic over it.) Many of the ';salons'; offer nail tips with an acrylic overlay. Keep in mind that the ';salons'; (little stores with the foreign employees) tend to use mechanical nail filers which can destroy your nailbed. Also, these tools sometimes are not cleaned well, which can cause problems for you. Make sure you go to a clean, reputable salon. I personally recommend going to someone who is going to do your nails by hand (someone who uses a standard nail file instead of a metal file of doom!) I have a wonderful nail tech who is very gentle, and my nails are perfect. It may cost a little more to do your nails this way, but it is so much more worth it in the end.
The pros- you have a nice looking manicure that lasts a while and you don鈥檛 have to do much with it until it鈥檚 time for a fill-in. The cons: expensive (will cost you about $30-$40 per month), ruins your natural nails (makes it thin and weak.)

Are you PRO or ANTI RED NAILS?

AND WHYAre you PRO or ANTI RED NAILS?
pro if you have the skin tone to pull it off........why cause its a fun flirty sexy colorAre you PRO or ANTI RED NAILS?
I' am so pro. Because I'm a prep and white. Rad nail polish is totally flirty, and thats what preps do flirt. But red nails only look good if you have light skin. Dark skin you should try some darker colors.

Oh and by the way that girl up there that said red nails does not look good on pale people. It so does. I'm pale as pale. I mean I'm whiter than my teeth, and my friends sometimes think I'm a ghost. But red look the very best on me. Than light pink. But yeah. So just shut up. Cause you don't know NYthing:)
Pro if it goes with what you are wearing and they are kept nice and trimmed. I like red nails on the longer side as well...

Anti if you are wearing a color that totally clashes with red.
    Definatly Pro!!!!!!!!!

Red nails look great with a lot of outfits and just look great in general. I like the medium red, not to dark but not pink red.
Depends, on the shade of red. A nice deep red, nice, a bright red, trampy.
Pro! Red screams im a freak on the low...lol

    www.youravon.com/jasminegolden
Neither. There are just so many other nicer colors that I prefer.I don't even know the last time I bought red polish.
    PRO!

    they are sexy and feminine.

but they must be well cleaned , not chipped and sleek with longish nails not short ones.
Pro cause on my skin color it looks good but on a pale person it looks bad
    Definitely PRO!!!

My nails are painted red right now!! It looks very sexy, and it shows you have lots of confience to wear bright red nails!!!
Pro, they're classy and go with pretty much anything.
I only wear red in the winter. But I like most all nail polish.
idk because like they don't look good on me but they look good on other people.
As long as they're not with a bright red, low-cut dress. Then, it looks trampy
anti. red is a cool color, but i think it just looks too fierce.
I only do my feet in red... that is the color for feet. It looks so good on my golden toes
pro i love to wear red nailpolish they look cute
i bite my nails so neither

How do you paint nails like a pro?

well I'm good and all but I want to be great!

I need steps to painting nails like a pro.How do you paint nails like a pro?
I just had my nails done at a salon and I watched and asked a lot of question. It was a good $15 lesson. I leasrned a lot.How do you paint nails like a pro?
its simple: always start painting your nails in the middle of your nail, if you start my your cuticle the polish isnt dry and can get on your skin and very messy! Layers also make nails prettier, file them down to and use a clear coat before and after painting nails.

can anyone who has had these done explain the process....pro's / con's and how to maintain? e.g. how often do you need to ge tthem filled in, does it cost the same amount...any info would be great, thanks :)Gel nails - pro's / con's?
I think with gel nails they use a special kind of acrylic gel, either over top your own natural nail only, or over top of some tips and your own nails. The gel is set by using a UV lamp to harden the gel. You usually need to have them filled every 2 to 3 weeks to blend your own natural nail growth. They are quite expensive to maintain long term, and some people can develop fungal infections under the artificial nail. Because of the buffing or filing of the natural nail that is done before application, it can leave your own natural nails thinner and weaker.Gel nails - pro's / con's?
costs like $25 to get them done the first time, get them changed 2-4 weeks later depending on how fast your nails grow and its only like $10 to get them filled in
I have had acryllic nails on and off for several years. The first day that you get them, they are sore a little bit, but not too bad. The place that I go to preps your nails by filing them down, then placing the nail tips on with glue, then adding the acryllic on top. Then more filing and then a coat of nail polish. The cost is about $30 for a full-set, then you need a fill every 2 weeks. The most important aspect of having nails is to make sure you keep them clean. There can be a lot of bacteria that is stored underneath your nails and even cause fungus.
Theyre really pretty, they prob cost about30-to 40. They kinda hurt the 1st day u wear them. U prob have to get them filled each month or each 15 days. dependes on how fast ur nails grow. They last for a long time. At least mine did. But when u take them out, they hurt a lot, ur natural nails become fragil and theyre kind of damaged.

This i a nail biting, hair pulling non-admin windows xp pro problem!?

I have windows XP Professional. And its my mom's old computer but she used to be an administrator. And she set the administrator privileges to her account only. She set a password to her account though. so i can't get in to set the administrator privileges to my account. and she says she doesn't remember cause it was a long time agoI've'v tried EVERYTHING! Iv tried x-scan, Iv tried scr scan, even tried hacking the password with cmd and going onto safe mode! but I just can't get into her account. then after 6 hours of trying to crack the code of getting administrator advantages... I finally snapped that on the startup screen (the old style without the blue welcome screen) that the administrators account does not appear! and it never did! it just dissappeared when my mom stopped using the computer and two other random accounts appeared which i cannot access because it says they are invalid or somethin.I can only see the administrator on cmd. and worse of all. I can't access the other two accounts because they say their inaccessible. But in my desktop account, on my computer. In acer and further into documents and settings. I can actually access the administrators document. but the dministrators desktop and files dont appear, only some do....unimportant ones. so i can't get into is control panel. If you haven't guesed yet...Im a non admin account user that is desperate to do ANYTHING to get administrator privaledges! HELP!This i a nail biting, hair pulling non-admin windows xp pro problem!?
OK, so here are two solutions that are almost guaranteed to work:

    1. Download the OphCrack LiveCD (warning: huge download, but should finish in a few hours at most if you have a fast connection) here:

    http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/download鈥?/a>

Burn it to CD; insert it into the computer; reboot the computer; and follow on-screen instructions.

    Problems:

    * You use a dial-up connection (or other really slow connection) OR you don't have burn privileges. Solution: Use #2, or burn the CD on someone else's computer.

    * You can't boot from CD. Solution: Either use #2, or reconfigure BIOS settings (probably you can do this by pressing something like F1 as the computer is starting up) so that CD boots before hard disk. If you can't get into the BIOS, there's always #2...

    2. Follow the instructions here: http://loginrecovery.com/

    Problems:

    * The service fails to retrieve the password. In this case, use #1.

    * You don't have a floppy drive. In this case, try #1.

    * Both CD and floppy are set to boot after hard disk, and you can't get into the BIOS. Yeah, that's a problem. Search ';reset BIOS password'; on Google.

How to paint my nails like a pro?

?? how do i paint my nails and have them look really good with out going to a beauty shop and giting it?

[my nails are kinda short]How to paint my nails like a pro?
(I apologize because this post really is sooo long!)

First, use a nail file to smooth the free edge, shaping/shortening to the desired appearance/length.

Then, use the cuticle remover. Follow the manufacturers instructions for proper use.

Then, preferably using a good metal cuticle pusher (or orange stick), gently push back all of your cuticles. Use the pusher to remove any debris from this process, often wiping it clean. Your goal is to remove all of the dead skin, nail dust from the filing, and debris from your nails (the cuticle), leaving them smooth to the touch.

When this step has been completed, wet a nail wipe with the polish remover and clean each nail with it. Use a little bit of pressure on them, and make sure that they are each 'squeaky clean' before going on to the next one. If one gets too dirty, just discard it and use another, fresh one. After you have done all 10 nails, avoid touching them with your fingers, as this will put oils back on them which you just removed. You want them to be free of all oil and debris. Get into the nail folds and remove all the debris that you can. Make sure that they are totally clean, and oil-free.

Then, apply one or two coats of basecoat. Two thin coats are preferable to one thick coat. Let dry for a few minutes before proceeding. Basecoat smooths the nail surface, preparing it for the polish, while giving the polish something to adhere to. This will make it less prone to chipping off, since it will have a base to 'grip' onto. It will also help prevent your nails from staining from the polish, especially darker shades.

Time for the polish. Avoid shaking the bottle, as this puts lots of air bubbles in it which will show up on your nails - a true sign of amateur work! Instead, roll the bottle between your palms for 15-30 seconds or so.

Remove the brush, and as you are taking the brush out of the bottle, lightly wipe the side of the brush which is furthest from your nails on the side of the bottle to remove the excess. Done correctly, this will leave the polish right where you want it on the brush - on the front side, not all around it. Avoid using thick coats. Two to three thin coats are best. Apply using the three-stroke method. First, apply a strip down the center of your nail, then one to each side of that first strip, overlapping it a little bit as you go. Start the first strip with a loaded brush, and place the brush onto the nail in front of the cuticle area (the nail fold) just slightly. Don't start all the way back. Instead, start a little in front of the folds, and lay the brush onto the nail gently, while carefully pushing the polish back towards the cuticle area. Leave a slight margin polish-free. Then, without lifting your brush, pull the brush forward and make the center strip without pressing too hard - you don't want to 'fan' your brush out too much. Just a slight pressure will do - just 'glide' the brush over your nail. Otherwise, it tends to literally pull the polish off of your nail, and leave streaks too. With me so far? OK. Then, just do the same on either side of the first strip. Make sure you use three strokes, gently 'push' the polish upward into position with each stroke, then 'pull' it toward the free edge with smooth, even pressure all the way down the nail onto, and over the free edge. Don't overwork the polish. In short, don't keep going back over it again and again. Just three, smooth strokes - Center, side, then the other side. Don't worry if the polish seems to be uneven - it will even out with the next coat. Your goal with the first coat is to be able to still see your nail somewhat. If you cannot, then you applied it too thickly. Thin coats are key, but yet not TOO thin, either. And be sure to leave a tiny margin of nail which is polish-free around the cuticle area. This area should be nicely rounded, and free of jagged edges. You wany it to be nice and even looking. Avoid touching the skin. If you do, then you're working too close to it. You can easily clean that up, but its easiest to just avoid that in the first place.

Wait about 2-3 minutes, then repeat for coat #2.

Now, the nail should have a smooth look to it, and be free of imperfections. You should not be able to see your natural nail at this point. Instead, it should be covered with polish completely. But, some colors of polish require a little more work to make this happen. If so, just wait a few minutes after the second coat, then apply a nice thin layer of polish in the same way you did for the first two coats. Polishing complete!

Now, again wait - for about 3-5 minutes, and apply a medium-thick layer of Fast Dry Topcoat. This will not only protect your polish, but it will also help to speed up the drying process of the layers of polish underneath it, and it will leave your nails nice and shiny.

Your nails will be dry 'to the touch' in as little as a minute or two - depending on the brand of Fast Dry Topcoat you used. But remember, it still has not hardened. That will take from 30-60 minutes. Don't do anything else to speed up the drying process. Don't blow on them, or use any of these sprays which supposedly will help dry them, they will just dull the high gloss you worked so hard to put on them in the first place. Just let nature take over, and air dry them. It just takes a bit of patience, and of course, time! Be careful with them in the meantime, or they can easily smudge.

After they are totally dry, apply cuticle oil to each nail. Apply to the cuticle area, and massage into the cuticles, and onto each nail too. This will help keep the cuticle area, and your nails moisturized, and healthy too. Use this 2-3 times a day.How to paint my nails like a pro?
Start off with clean dry nails.

Have a steady hand while applying nail polish. It's ok if you slip up. I usually have a q tip nearby that I dip in nail polish remover to correct mistakes.

Do about two coats. When you do more than that, the polish tends to peel or look bubbly/clumpy. Finish off with a clear top coat.

Make sure you dry well before your resume your normal activities, or they will smudge!

    Good luck

No. Water will kill a computer. Who knows what chemicals are in your remover? I'm sure it has some form of chemical that breaks down acrylic plastic. What do you suppose it did to the plastic membrane in your keyboard? It most likely ate right thru the screen printed circuit at least.Spilled nail polish remover on macbook pro! help!?
Did it get into the keys (and thus inside the computer)? IF so, it matters litle if it was water or acid... damage is done. I hope you have an APP!

Perhaps you could try taking the Macbook Pro apart and letting it really dry out, but this is risky and will void the warranty if you have one for sure.

    BUMMER!!!
Hopefully the liquid should evaporate on its own and the problem may go away, but whatever damage is done, is done. I wouldn't recommend taking the laptop apart yourself unless you really know what you're doing. Find a nerd who knows how or take it in to apple and just pay to have it fixed. Its better than ruining the whole thing and having to purchase a whole new laptop.

    P.S. Learn from this
My suggestion to you is to call apple and see what they say because yahoo answers is not the place to ask that kind of question, the longer you wait the more damage is done to the computer.

Is it true that Yoko Ono (John Lennon's wife) had a pro Nails shop?

not trueIs it true that Yoko Ono (John Lennon's wife) had a pro Nails shop?
Completely untrue. Yoko Ono was famous in the art world before she met John Lennon. She did not do nails ever! What you are meaning with this question is somewhat racist--if not completely racist. Yoko Ono actually made John Lennon's fortune much bigger for him when he was alive because she took over the ';family business.'; So, no she wouldn't have to be a nail technician--not that there is anything wrong with it, but again, your question borders on racism.

To all Pro-Gun/ Anti-Gun people, would this put the final nail in the Pro-Gun coffin?

Today, at 12:15 p.m. at gun-show in Vermont John King, a clerk, despite obtaining his firearms legally (passing ALL necessary checks) %26amp; sitting many MANY hours of Gun Safety classes, takes one of his legally bought machine guns into the gun show in Vermont %26amp; started firing into the crowd.

DESPITE the hundreds of guns there, all loaded with LIVE ammunition, people ran away screaming, or cowered behind gun stands.

By the end of the day, John had killed 51 %26amp; injured at least a hundred more before putting a bullet into his head.To all Pro-Gun/ Anti-Gun people, would this put the final nail in the Pro-Gun coffin?
Considering the fact that there were NO murders with legal machine guns PRIOR to the 1986 ban, your scenario would just be more proof that BANS CAUSE MURDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for using Bowling for Columbine as an example, only a hypocrite would use a fictional piece like that as an example. To all Pro-Gun/ Anti-Gun people, would this put the final nail in the Pro-Gun coffin?
What gun show allows hundreds of guns to be loaded.Any gun show I have ever been to you are not allowed to load the guns. This guy decided to break the law.Because the rest of the people there must have been law biding they were not able to return his fire.Since the Supreme is upholding the peoples rights to have guns don't expect this to help your cause any.
Hmm, nice story. I notice there is no link so i took the liberty of looking it up for myself...it was all good and everything except for the fact that incident never happened...no where on the internet is a gun show in Vermont with a mass murder suicide even mentioned. Nice try commi.
talk about them guns, heres a scenario for you. you dont own one, a crack head comes in with his. you could have shot him, before he killed you and raped your wife. hate guns now?
Giving a sheep a gun doesn't make him a sheepdog.

But a sheepdog with no teeth is no good to anyone.

Not to mention that you made that scenario up.
Of course this won't put a nail in anything so many things like this happen all the time. I am not for guns, but this doesn't show me much about why not to have one...
51 people killed and how many guns in this country, there are still over 300,000,000 people in the usa that weren't killed today buy a gun, maybe we should outlaw cars they killed some people today..think before you type
why do people like you exploit tragedies?
while were at it, lets outlaw

drugs (have you heard how many dopers get killed over that crap?)

alcohal (more people die in alcohal related crashes)

knifes (have you ever heard of people getting stabbed to death)

cars (how many people die in car crashes??)

    planes (self explanitory)

pills and ropes (wouldnt want to give suicidal people any options either)

touching (people can kill with their bare hands, pushing, punching, etc)

any type of weapon (gardening tools, baseball bats, chemicles, hell i seen people kill others with the remote controll to there TV)

matterfact, why not just lock us up in our houses because the world is ';unsafe';.........give me a break! guns dont kill people, people kill people........if i wanted to kill someone, trust me, they will be dead, no matter which way i go about it

if guns kill people, do pencils misspell words?

edit:::You dont know how these criminals think.....if they wanted you dead, and they had the chance to kill you, they will do it, no matter what weapon they use......i seen people kill with almost anything, does that mean you gonna ban everything......a killer can easily beat the **** out of you using a shovel....are you gonna ban that? someone can stab you with a knife, a long needle, a pen, etc are you going to ban that? the point is that life, its full of risk, people die, you risk you life from the second you wake up to second you fall asleep.... you can die from anything, so why worry about it?
you cant stop everyone with a gun. but there are ways to limit these shootings by not letting people carry a gun around with them all the time just because it their right to defend themselves, but little do you know about the many people that get killed with there own gun and the children playing cowboys cause they found a gun on the bookshelf, table, shed or even in mums purse. i live in australia with strict gun laws, an dyes people do get killed with guns here, but you don't hear about kids getting a little angry and go on a killing spree at school with dads gun and the hundreds of bullets they could casually buy without a licence in the local store. or big shoot outs in the street.

One thing first. Solar Nails ARE acrylic nails. Nothing special about them. They are not some new kind of special, and better product for your nails. They are simply regular acrylic nails. Anyway, the very best UV nail gels on the market are LCN - Light Concept Nails. But, they are also the most expensive because the gel products cost so very much for the tech to purchase. Expect to pay NO less than about $65 for a full set of real LCN nails. I've seen LCN's go for upwards of $85 and more.

One thing though. Make sure that if you get LCN nails that you are gettinng the real thing. The containers of gels and other products used in the application of your nails will ALL be very clearly labeled as LCN by the manufacturer. If the container is not marked, they are probably not LCN gels. Here is a pic of genune LCN UV nail products. This is what the containers should look like - NO exceptions!!!

    1. Always apply base! (Nail specialists especially like Orly Rubberized Nail Base)

    2. Apply 2 two coats of nail polish. Apply it in quick strokes: one thick strokes in the middle then spread with two strokes on the left and right. Do not apply more until fully dried or itf will streak. (OPI %26amp; Essie are fantastic!)

    3. Also, don't forget top coat (Orly Won't Chip Top Coat or OPI's Top Coat work best).

How to manicure your nails like a pro without the right equipment?

I am 15 years old and want to start making my nails look absolutely gorgeous. I don't have the proper equipment at all (besides a nile file). I've read articles which tell me I need to file, buff and push back my cuticles with 'an orange stick'. First of all what exactly is buffing and its purpose and how can I do it without a nail buffer? Also, can I use for instance a tooth pick to push back my cuticles? How to manicure your nails like a pro without the right equipment?
Buffing is just polishing the surface of your nail. You can get a slight buffing effect by using a soft cloth, like a chamois, and rubbing it over the surface of your nails. You can use your own nails to push back your cuticles. It is easiest to do when they are soft, like after you've come out of the shower. How to manicure your nails like a pro without the right equipment?
make sure you have everything you need before you start. i wouldn't worry about buffing...if you do the paint right, you won't need to.

don't use a toothpick. use something with a blunt edge to push back your cuticles. like the end of a tablefork handle.

cut your nails straight across (if you have clippers)

use your file to round off the corners. remember to file in one direction only, don't do that back-and-forth motion, it creates jagged edges.

go wash your hands with soap and water. dry them good.

you should dip the brush, pull one side along the bottle top as you bring it out to remove excess, and paint one line down the middle of the nail, then dip the brush the same way again and fill in either side. try to use the least amount of strokes possible to cover the nail. if you keep painting over and over the paint gets sticky. do all your nails. let dry a few minutes.

get some q-tips, dip them in polish remover, and clean up the edges of your fingers, and whatever other mistakes you made.

paint a second coat. let dry a few minutes.

then paint on a topcoat, with plain clear, or i like to use silver glitter in a clear coat...it jazzes up any color. with the top coat, you have to be quick! if you stroke too much, you will start pulling up the color. dip the brush, don't remove the excess this time, and get that topcoat on quick.

now you need to let dry thoroughly.

*btw you can manicure sets with everything you need supercheap, like less than 5 bucks. an orange stick is really just an orange stick and its cheap too

*do NOT apply moisterizer to your hands and nails before you paint as some people will tell you to do...that will only make the paint peel. all your work will be for nothing when your paint starts coming up the next day, or the first time you wash your hands.

you should use hand lotion on a regular basis, just not right before you do your nails. lotion should keep your cuticles and skin from drying out.

*do NOT soak your nails before you file them as some people will tell you to do...it will damage them. i find that soaking is unnecessary altogether, but if you want to do it, do it after you file, during the step where i say to wash your hands.

    hope it comes out pretty!!!
Nail buffing is the act of `polishing' the nail using buffers of successively finer grit. it can increase the blood circulation to the nail bed. Buffing off the ridges also gives a smoother surface for the polish to adhere to. Actually buffing leaves such an attractive sheen to the nails, that you might skip the polishing step. After all, buffed nails cannot chip.Buffing encourages the nails to grow thanks to the improved circulation. This procedure also helps to remove surface stains.

For buffing you can use a traditional buffer or a piece of chamois. You can find the traditional manicure kit from Big lot at very low price (just $1/$2) Apply a little buffing cream to the nails and then buff in one direction

Don't use tooth pick to push back cuticles, you might hurt yourself.

Simple! All you need are three types of nail polish. Make sure they are new if you want to get the pro look. Buy N.Y.C nail polish(inexpensive, only $1 and they work very very well too!). The first color should be the base nail polish. It should be clear. Apply it on in nice long strokes. Second, apply the color of your choice. Thirds, apply the shiny top coat so that the nails look shiny and they last. Did I say inexpensive? The total only costs $3 with beautiful results. What are some easy but nice and pro ways to put on nail polish?
One word AVON! They have this stuff that you just stick on your nail and peel off the extra and it looks PERFECT and doesn't come off unless you bite it.
1)Dip your hands in warm water for 5 minutes

    2)Gently push back your cuticles

3)Apply a clear base coat to your nails

4)Then polish your nails with the colour you want

5)Paint over with a clear top coat.

When applying polish always do it in long strokes along the nail. Start from the base of your nail and right to the tip, doing the middle then the sides. Give at least five minutes in between each coat, even if the bottle says it takes less. After drying you can repeat any coats if it hasn't covered well.

This is a good site. It specialises in gothic nails but many of the ideas apply to nail care in general.

First keep some cotton between your fingers.Secondly, before opening the nail polish shake it well and then open it. Thirdly, when you open the nail polish do not take too much take only the amount you think you need it for one of your finger.Next, keep the nail polish in only one direction do not keep it in different directions on your nail.Lastly, don't do anything with your nails till it dries.
use long even strokes and don't get any on your skin....like i would know....i go to salons to get them done
