What are some easy but nice and pro ways to put on nail polish?

I want to wear nail polish that looks really nice, and like a pro did it. I want to do it myself at home, have any suggestions? It should be inexpensive. Please include any websites! What are some easy but nice and pro ways to put on nail polish?
Simple! All you need are three types of nail polish. Make sure they are new if you want to get the pro look. Buy N.Y.C nail polish(inexpensive, only $1 and they work very very well too!). The first color should be the base nail polish. It should be clear. Apply it on in nice long strokes. Second, apply the color of your choice. Thirds, apply the shiny top coat so that the nails look shiny and they last. Did I say inexpensive? The total only costs $3 with beautiful results. What are some easy but nice and pro ways to put on nail polish?
One word AVON! They have this stuff that you just stick on your nail and peel off the extra and it looks PERFECT and doesn't come off unless you bite it.
1)Dip your hands in warm water for 5 minutes

2)Gently push back your cuticles

3)Apply a clear base coat to your nails

4)Then polish your nails with the colour you want

5)Paint over with a clear top coat.

When applying polish always do it in long strokes along the nail. Start from the base of your nail and right to the tip, doing the middle then the sides. Give at least five minutes in between each coat, even if the bottle says it takes less. After drying you can repeat any coats if it hasn't covered well.

This is a good site. It specialises in gothic nails but many of the ideas apply to nail care in general.

First keep some cotton between your fingers.Secondly, before opening the nail polish shake it well and then open it. Thirdly, when you open the nail polish do not take too much take only the amount you think you need it for one of your finger.Next, keep the nail polish in only one direction do not keep it in different directions on your nail.Lastly, don't do anything with your nails till it dries.
use long even strokes and don't get any on your skin....like i would know....i go to salons to get them done
